Salvatore Marando recalls: I was 22 years old and my brother was 18 when we first bought the store. Our fruit shop was one of the first to have a cool room.

We employed 16 people when we first opened. We had very early morning starts going to the markets at 3am. The store closed at 7.30pm but the workers did not finish until approximately 10pm every night.

We had wonderful employees and formed great relationships with them and also our customers which have lasted to the present.
