Gwen The De Sisto Roseville Fruit Shop was one of many owned by Italians along the North Shore Railway line of Sydney. My father Mick (Michele) De Sisto established the shop in 1935 before my mother Lucia migrated from Italy to join him in 1936 after 9 years of separation. My brother, Jacob and sister, Margaret were born in Australia during the war. The photo shows the original shop at 79 Pacific Highway in the Archbold Building (demolished to widen the Pacific Highway in 1950's) but the fruit shop continued to operate in a new building at the same address until 1965 when |
