Mary La Spina Shortly after his arrival to Australia in 1926, Leonardo La Spina purchased his fruit shop in Kingsford, Sydney. Together with his wife Guesipina (Pina), who, born in Riposto, Italy in 1902, had migrated to Australia in 1933, Leonardo managed the store; selling fresh fruit and vegetables, from daily market visits, to local clientele. Leonardo also operated a milk bar inside the store. During this time, the family, including daughter Elva, born in Australia, in 1935, lived in the residence above the shop. Vincenzo Muscatello Filippo Muscatello was born 1 November 1904 in Bianco, Reggio Calabria, Italy and migrated to Australia with his son Vincenzo in 1952. His wife Maria and second son Rosario joined him later in 1954. Filippo died in Leppington, NSW, 16 March 1990. The Kingsford fruitshop also had a milkbar, and was open five days a week and Saturday mornings, selling fruit and vegetables to many local Australian customers. |
