Fortunata Currenti Born 1908, Pasquale Mazzagatti migrated to Australia from Reggio Calabria in 1949. The store at Brighton-Le-Sands was already a fruit shop when Pasquale bought the property in 1954; however the family took over to maintain a successful business there for over twenty years. Pasquale’s daughter Tina recalls her father’s expertise in supplying the right produce for Mr Port, the local hardware shop owner, who would leave five pounds with the family every Friday and “my father just knew what to put into his three boxes, even though he did not speak English.”&n |
