Vincent Tipaldo Roy Logozzo writes: In December 1964 my parents, Antonio and Maria Logozzo purchased the Fruit Shop at 429 Parramatta Road Leichhardt which was previously owned and run by Joe Ancona. Mr Ancona had run this shop since approximately 1937 and from then it grew to become quite popular. In The History and Heritage of Italian-Australians in the Local Government Area (Leichhardt Council 2001) it is stated that “among the memorable Italian businesses of the 1950’s and 1960’s was the fruit shop run by two Sicilian Brothers with the family name Ancona”.
