George Severino

Born 1906 in Martone, Calabria, George Severino migrated to Australia in 1935.  Both George and his wife worked in their fruit shop in Hurstville, selling fresh fruit and vegetables.  Their daily routine involved 5am visits to the markets and long opening hours, from 7:30 in the morning, until six at night.  When World War Two broke out, the shop was closed down because George was not naturalised.  George was then sent to the Nullabor Plains, in South Australia, to work on the rail line.
