Sydneys Italian Fruitshops

Vincenzo's son Vincent Russo writes: Our memories of growing up in the shop are ones of great joy for me and my 2 brothers and sister.  The shop was one of 9 in a tenement arrangement and were built circa 1917.  They were 2 storey with the shop below and living quarters above.  These shops had a very narrow frontage and consequently the backyards were very small with very little space to play in as children.  However, this problem was overcome by the fact that behind the shops were 2 grass paddocks where we played all our games.
